Anyone who knows me also know that I love chocolate. Chocolate ice-cream, yoghurt, cake, name it! I love the rich cocoa taste and of course the health benefit. Most times I add chocolate to anything I want to eat.
Chocolate bread is one of my favourite. I remember baking this at home and my mum practically distributed it to all her friends.
So I’ll be sharing my recipe on bread making.
P. S : Home made bread tastes better than those in the bakery. You get to decide the quantity of ingredients in it.
Ingredients :
2 cups of Flour
1/2 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp of baking soda
11/2 cups of Cocoa powder
1 tbsp of Yeast
1 cup of Milk (optional)
250g Margarine/ butter
1/2 tsp Vanilla flavour
2 cup of Cold water
1 cup of Hot water
Equipments: Mixer , Pan, Oven

Procedure
- Pour the hot water and cold water into the mixer..
- Pour the flour into it and start mixing slowly..
- Add margarine/butter (continue mixing)
- After mixing for 10 minutes, yeast is added (do not stop the mixer) (if you’re mixing manually, add yeast with free hand).
- After mixing, dissolve salt, baking soda, vanilla flavour into milk and pour into dough.
- cocoa powder is also added at this point and fast mixing is required until perfect dough is formed.
- Dough is brown in colour.
- Dough is allowed to rise for 20-30 minutes..(cover with a towel)
- For fast proofing (put dough in a pre-heated oven that has been put off)
- Pan is greased with butter/margarine
- Oven is preheated
- dough is cut /knead into pan ( chocolate chips/fruits is added on top of dough in the pan.
- Pan is put into the oven @220 C for 15 minutes..
- Dough is baked
- Bread is ready
If you follow these steps, you do not need or a bread improver for the bread to rise.
Diets

And of course, chocolate bread can be eaten with Butter, scrambled eggs, sandwiched and as desired.
